Bio
Quang Hai Nguyen (they/them) is a visual artist currently based in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal. Their practice examines different forms of absences that take shape in multiple daily lived experiences of the Vietnamese diaspora. Through lens-based mediums and material experimentation, their visual storytelling revisits, reflects and brings light to issues of migration, invisible labour and collective memory. They earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, and their works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including the 5th edition of ARTCH, the 27th Festival Accès Asie, and the annual exhibition at FOFA Gallery. Nguyen is also a program coordinator for Chinatown Youth Montreal, a youth-led grassroots collective dedicated to community engagement and knowledge sharing centered around cultural, political and social aspects of Montreal’s Chinatown.
